GOD BUT MY OWN WAY

, by brightlight

[Matthew 18:3] “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven." - Jesus.

Obstinate people will never experience the supernatural. The disease they carry is not only a set of unchangeable beliefs but also pride of being a Christian. People pick and choose a preacher whom to praise and even own, but when that preacher is yielded to the Holy Spirit and changes horses in mid stream then this God who just came out of your box is not the kind of God you want.

A proud Christian, (I have met too many already), assumes that he or she knows best and such only seeks to feed that pride all the more.

There was once the fist time for a Catholic Christian; and the very first time for a Lutheran, Baptist or pentecostal. There is always a new beginning for everything. The unwillingness to switch and change grieves the Holy Spirit one aspires to know and be led of.

[Amos 7:3] The LORD changed His mind about this. “It shall not be,” said the LORD.

No one can know the Holy Spirit with fixed attitudes "my way" because God's Spirit does not even come near such person. Before we can talk about the grieving of the Holy Spirit we must address His nearness first. If one is not able to give up one's disappointment after what one eagerly expected then one is stuck in self. The self handles itself like as if it is the only king in the entire Universe. So this self-king can't lose time and cannot ever be disappointed, but if it is it quickly seeks vindication. The one who has caused this disappointment must be then punished. Therefore, quite subconsciously, people punish the one who brought them high and closer to God and has spoiled them. Once self gets hooked on something it will feed itself like a glutton who eats and vomits and eats some more. The food has lost all taste, but the glutton keeps on eating anyway. Try to stop it. You can't.

1. Inflexibility belongs to the old bones and sinews and not to children.

2. Slow adaptability bypasses opportunities

A strange thing

Ego and pride dance together the tango, but only the tango and no other dance. Musicians stuff their instruments with pride and worship them as well as their mediocre abilities. (Mediocre because there are abilities beyond your imagination, so don't limit yourself by putting pride behind your playing. Take that guitar out of beach, fire and girls scene and into God's house and just for Him.) With such puffed up instruments one cannot praise and worship God for He does not accept such offerings; and like the one of Cain He keep on rejecting them. But the strange thing is that one keeps on worshiping this idol and you can't change that, but if you try you will be viewed as one that insults the beloved idol.

[Matthew 11:17] ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’

A spiritual person is flexible and adaptable while the inflexible and stiff is only fleshly, self-defined and slow to learn anything new. Hey, I would even dare to say that such does the desires of the dead and stuck in time unclean spirits. Some have demons. They may not be possessed by them, but they may possess demons and do what those demons want. They are not in their own clear mind, but are pressed to do the wishes of their ancestors' national, religious or their family traditions, addictions and habits.

[Romans 8:14] For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Not those who are led of the letter but rather of the Spirit. Letter kills; Spirit makes alive.

God has time and He plans more meetings in surprising places, but when one is led of the Spirit it is the Spirit that changes streets and turns corners. So, either you follow Him or follow that which dictates or orders your behavior. Demons cried in the presence of the Great Liberator Jesus; and they still cry today. People bind others because they are bound up themselves. Only the free can create freedom for others.

Worship

Only in true worship we are able to surrender because we melt and give up our stubborn will. But when the tango couple (ego and pride) will not budge He won't either.
